Zoning Hearing Delayed
Preserve Preston Hollow Successfully Pauses Skyscraper Zoning Process
City Plan Commission meeting delayed until further notice
(DALLAS) — Following a formal legal request from Preserve Preston Hollow, the City of Dallas has removed the proposed mixed-use development at Preston Road and Royal Lane from the City Plan Commission’s (CPC) upcoming June 25 agenda.
“We are pleased that the City recognized the importance of a fair, transparent, and legally sound process by pulling this case from Thursday’s agenda,” said Austin Smith, attorney for the nonprofit group. “The Burk team had changed its plan multiple times after the City sent notification forms to neighboring property owners. The community has a right to review and respond to the actual, updated proposal before a vote takes place.”
With the meeting now delayed, Preserve Preston Hollow will postpone its planned caravan to City Hall to a future date. The nonprofit will continue to update concerned neighbors on the process and any newly scheduled public hearings.
“We continue to see strong community engagement regarding this proposal,” said Doug Hazelbaker, a real estate professional, neighbor, and volunteer with the nonprofit. “We have already collected approximately 4,000 petition signatures from individuals who feel the current scale and density parameters are incompatible with the area. We want to see the corner developed with a mix of uses in a way that is complementary to the neighboring residential community and existing commercial properties.”
